Discover San Cristóbal and La Joya Hotel.
There are a number of flights from Mexico City to Tuxtla Gutierrez (TGZ). The ride from the airport to San Cristobal is about 90 minutes. You can buy a taxi ticket from the desk just before you leave the Tuxtla airport, or let us know in advance if you would like us to arrange for a driver to pick you up. If you are traveling from overseas, allow at least 3 hours between flights in order to maneuver through immigration, pick up your luggage, go through customs, recheck your luggage (possibly in a different terminal), exchange money, and walk to the departure gate. If you’re flying through Mexico City and want to exchange money for pesos, you’ll get a better rate at the airport than you will in San Cristóbal de Las Casas. Money exchange booths at the airport often have different rates, so take a walk along the hallway to find the best deal. There are exchange booths and ATMs in San Cristóbal, and sometimes banks will exchange foreign currency. Banks are busiest on Fridays and Mondays, particularly in the morning and at the beginning and end of the month.
